I just returned from the filming of America’s Got Talent at the Paramount Theater. Jumpstart had the opportunity to be in the audience during the live auditions. We got in for free; but in exchange for this experience, we couldn’t bring in any electronics. Out of the many acts that were on stage, I’d say only three of them deserved to go to Vegas. The majority of them weren’t even from Seattle! I was disappointed because Seattle is the music scene. But I guess Seattle’s underground artists are so good that they know they don’t need such a generic show to make their claim to fame. The show is “live”; but it’s unbelievably scripted. We had to re-cheer so many times that the retakes weren’t as genuine.

The biggest disappointment? Aside from the three acts above, most of the acts weren’t all that great. It makes me uncomfortable to see that the “bad” acts were put on stage to be ridiculed and disrespected by the judges & audience. Honestly, is failure really something to be laughed about?
