Judging a book by its cover.
Earlier, I stumbled across the tumblr of a “well-known” person. By well-known, I mean that he’s one of those people everyone…seems to know of - if not, befriends. The predisposed assumption I had of him before my recent discovery was that: he hangs out in clubs, a popular photographer, a Husky, Asian, and is friends with people who party/drink frequently. Just another guy who puts himself in “the night scene”.
Last week, I had lunch with a good friend. Somehow this same guy came into our conversation. She mentioned that his parents left him financially, how he went to Cali for a job, how he’s working jobs to find money in order to attend college (since parents chose not to support him anymore), etc. People are complaining about this and about that, yet this socialite really had/has it tough. I’ve never met him; but my heart reached out to him and I have the utmost respect for a person who overcomes struggles.
Flash forward: his Tumblr. His posts are at least two body paragraphs long. Not only that, the topics he dedicates his posts to are philosophically intriguing. His diction is impressive and the thoughts he forms are equally impressive. I was surprised. Honestly, I didn’t think he had this mental capacity to pull out such an elaborate contemplation (I know, I sound stuck-up and rude with that statement, haha). In all seriousness though, WOW. I applaud him. It’s rare to come across a person who actually blogs. And when that person is a guy - well, that’s even more grand.
